Westland Hydrangea Colourant

  • Our price: £4.75
  • RRP: £4.99

Product Information

Westland Hydrangea Colourant is a salt which changes the colour of pale pink hydrangea varieties to blue and darker pink varieties to mauve blue.

Westland Hydrangea Colourant

  • Contains aluminium sulfate hexadecahydrate
  • Pack size: 500g

Best results are obtained with plants growing in acid soils. Where the soil is naturally alkaline, use ericaceous compost instead or double the application rate of colourant added.

It should be noted that some Hydrangeas are bred to be pink in all soil conditions and will not change colour.

How to use

For established shrubs:

  • Mix colourant into the soil at the rate of 50g per square metre (1 capful per square metre)
  • Every 7 days during the growing season, dissolve 50g of Hydrangea Colourant in 5 litres of water (1 level capful per 5 litres of water) and apply to the area of soil covered by the shrub
Container-grown Hydrangeas:
  • When potting, mix Hydrangea Colourant into the compost at a rate of 50g per 5 litres of compost (1 capful per 5 litres).
  • Every 7 days during the growing season, dissolve 50g into 5 litres of water. Apply to the soil around the plant.
